A good half hour of entertainment.
Check out this site that I stumbled across yesterday. Especially nice for kids of the 80s. It brought back some lovely childhood memories....

Monday, Monday
So I'm back home.
I have stuff to say, actually, and will try to say some of it in the next couple of days. But I got an hour and a half of sleep Saturday night (first moonlighting shift at New State Hospital) and last night I got home late (Rhonda made me and a couple of friends an awesome home-cooked Sri Lankan dinner), and I really want to go to bed early tonight. So for now, I merely leave you to ponder this:

Yiayia on relationships
Athenos has this new advert series about the stereotypical, old country Greek grandmother. It's really, really stereotypical....but also funny as hell.
Click through and watch them all (there's only three). Hilarious, especially if you have a little judgmental yiayia from the old country (which I do not, but I've known many).
It does make me miss my yiayia a little bit. She was nothing like this...which is probably why I miss her so much...

Ah, medical humor....
This guy cracks me up. Which I'm almost ashamed to admit, if you look at some of his other stuff....

Thoughts for a Friday night...
A friend posted this on Facebook. I've seen it before, and it always makes me cry a little. And hug my puppy.

Hmm.....
I'm not dead. Honest. I'm just exhausted. And I actually wrote a whole post for yesterday...which didn't post.
Ah well.
So for the second weekend in a row, I was not out riding on an absolutely gorgeous day because I was under the (great) weather. I appear to have caught the plague my med students are spreading around the Adolescent inpatient unit. If I had any control of their grades, I'd fail them both (no, not really). But on the whole, it was a good weekend.
Today was looooong. 7am therapy case, work, supervision, therapy, gym.
Oh, and funny videos on YouTube with the plague-spreading med students. Here, watch this:

Fun on a Monday
Coffee. Work. Supervision. Therapy. It's Monday, alright.
I did come across this, however. Which I find kind of fascinating.
Enjoy.
PS, I'm so going to bed at 8 tonight....

Happy National Coming Out Day
Yeah, I'm straight, but I've long sympathized with the LGBTQIA community, even back when it was just called "gay people." I feel for their inability to change who they are, and that society will tell them they're defective for it. Did you know that you can still be fired from your job in 29 states for being lesbian, gay or bisexual and in 38 states for being transgender? This is 2010, people.
Twelve years ago I spent a morning washing off hateful graffiti from our college campus. That day was the only day in my four years there that our daily Chapel service was canceled. Instead, we had an anti-hate rally. Not pro-gay, not anti-anti-gay, just anti all forms of hate. I was so impressed with my little, conservative, religious Midwestern university.
What I was not prepared for? Was the number of people I thought I knew, liked, and respected that declined to participate. They couldn't condone that, they said. Someone very important to me at the time stated he couldn't get behind that, and besides, he was junior faculty, he couldn't be seen at something like this. Two hours later I was standing on the lawn holding hands with my physics professor - even more junior faculty - singing We Shall Overcome. I learned a lot about some people that day that I would have rather not known.
Meanwhile, now, over a decade later, in 20-fucking-10, there's a growing epidemic of suicides among GLBT teens and young adults. There's still so far to go, my friends.
We shall overcome. Someday.

I know it's Tuesday, but...
Love is in the air.
No, sadly, not around here. But as a child of the '80s (and thus a teen of the early '90s), I couldn't help but totally love this:

Ode but good
Sometimes, psychiatry is a really tough job.
Those are the days I remind myself....at least I'm not a weather man.
Never once have I had to pick up a cat during a therapy session.

Weddingness
My aunt and uncle and I are having a great time at the beach. I promise some real content soon, but for now....my aunt showed me this. It's my cousin's fiancee's cousin's...something something something. And it's awesome.

Brrrrrrrrr-rrrrrrrr-rrrrrrrr-rrrrrrrrrr
No, it's not cold. But it is late. And it was an exhausting day. Hopefully I'll have time to write more about that tomorrow. And I don't have a good Wordless Wednesday picture to share, so instead, I give you this. It's cute, even to dog people.

Funny stuff for a Monday
One of the adolescents told us about this on Friday. But I think it's more appropriate for a Monday.
Makes everything a little better, doesn't it?

Try some oregano
It's the end of an era.
The Pink Office is breaking up next week. PenguinShrink, Ruthie and I have been together for two years now. We definitely have the most fun office in the group (and probably the least productive). But over the course of the next week, Ruthie is moving in with Sparrow and Molly, Peng is moving over to the child fellow offices and in with the Fresca-addicted JD, and Cleo and I will get Chief's Office South up and running (also in the fellow offices). Change is inevitable, I suppose.
PenguinShrink, however, is missing from the Pink Office this week, off visiting family and doing the vacation thing. But this made me think of her - and also made me giggle a little - so, this one's for you, P.
